02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
stART Festival brings high-quality participatory art experiences to the localities around the Strathmore Valley. This area includes the villages and towns of Alyth, Coupar Angus, Blairgowrie, Ruthven, Glenisla, Bridge of Cally and Kirkmichael, but is not limited to these settlements. The activities are designed to engage families and younger people in the arts and to ensure that rural isolation does not have to mean a paucity of high quality arts provision.

Constitutional objectives
To advance the education of the public, in particular the young people of the area, in the Arts, by the provision of an annual Strathmore Arts Festival including music, dance, arts and crafts. In furtherance thereof but not otherwise the Group shall seek: (a) To promote vibrant, high quality arts and culture within the communities of the area for the benefit of all people in the community, but with an emphasis on young people without distinction of political, religious or other opinions. (b) To offer a wider understanding and practice of artistic expression to the communities with an emphasis on young people, in the area. (c) To use the stART Festival as a focal point to encourage year round activities. (d) To provide opportunities to teach various art forms representing varied ethnic and cultural traditions. (e) To establish with community groups, local artists and the local council a Partnership to promote high quality arts in the communities of the area. (f) Start shall be non-party in politics and non-sectarian in religion.
