02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Friends of Sauchie Tower (FOST) is a charity set up to assist the work of Clackmannanshire Heritage Trust (CHT) - encouraging public interest in Sauchie Tower and its surroundings and promoting the preservation, development and improvement of Sauchie Tower. FOST members maintain the grounds around Sauchie Tower and are responsible for preparations for the opening of Sauchie Tower during the annual Open Doors Day weekend in September. During the Open Doors Day FOST members provide guided tours of the interior of the tower, organise interactive displays - showcasing traditional skills (including stonemasonry and textile production) and share information about the history of the tower, and plans for future development, with visitors. Friends are involved in various meetings at Sauchie Tower over the course of the year, meeting with representatives of Community Enterprise, Clackmannanshire Heritage Trust (CHT) and other interested parties to discuss the future of Sauchie Tower.
