02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Friends of the Biblical Garden was established to help manage, promote and care for the community garden that is The Biblical Gardens in Elgin, Scotland. The charity helps to raise funds that are used to maintain the floral displays and for developments within the garden. The charity also acts as a focus for volunteers who help with practical efforts to maintain the gardens through the year.

Constitutional objectives

To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Elgin and its environs without distinction of sex, sexuality, political, religious or other opinions by associating the local statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities, or assist in the provision of facilities, in the interest of social welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupation so that their conditions of life may be improved. In furtherance of this object, the Association shall seek to: (1) Promote the protection, safe use and enjoyment of visitors, staff and property of The Biblical Garden, and to encourage the prevention of criminal acts at the said Biblical Garden. (2) Act as a voice fcr the local people, residents and users of the Biblical Garden. (3) Encourage new facilities/activities/events which are in keeping with the Biblical Garden's history and tradition and the current make-up of the community. (4) Explore and seek new sources of funding to achieve these aims.
