02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

IACD is set up to promote good practice in community development internationally. We do this by hosting events, webinars and learning sessions for practitioners - both globally and within the regions we operate in. We use the structure of IACD to create new learning through our publications - like 'Practice Insights' magazine and others and to disseminate this to members and other practitioners. We continue to work with governments across the globe, other international organisations, and other charities and community and voluntary sector organisations to promote community development, ensuring it is seen as a vital approach to supporting communities to be strong and resilient. We continue to be a hub for research and knowledge development, through the webinars, events and learning opportunities we provide. We also organise and promote international events - training, learning and sharing about community development, and host international learning exchanges.
