02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The purpose of the Kyle of Sutherland Hub (The Hub) is to provide access to services and activities which provide opportunity, engagement, support resilience, raise aspirations and enhance the area as a place to live and visit. To address the diverse range of disadvantage that exits to our communities from birth upwards due to the remote rural location, and to reduce the effects of those. These are • Social isolation and community segregation • Lack of facilities for children and young people • Lack of facilities to support healthy lifestyles • Lack of employment and volunteering opportunities • Deprivation/ poverty • Decline in local economy through loss of visitor services and attractions • Dispersed and segregated villages We aim to achieve this through fixed income generating facilities and the provision of community-based activities, clubs, and classes. Our fixed facilities include a soft play area, gym, café, second hand point, and a series of fluid rooms which can be hired
