02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To provide social and educational opportunities to children in the Castle Douglas area both after school and in school holidays. Our activities are all about stimulating the children and encouraging their development in a safe and caring environment. Activities include camping, trips to local attractions, problem solving, arts & crafts and team building. In addition to the above we give the children the opportunity to work towards badges which represent a specific skill, e.g. sailing, and which encourage citizenship, like community challenges and helping others.

The purpose of Scouting is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.
