02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To develop the Buccleuch Centre as a multi-purpose civic amenity which provides high quality facilities for artistic, social, community and educational purposes. To improve the quality of life in Langholm through attending or participating in arts events To organise a year round programme of performances, events, workshops, films, talks, seminars, etc by local and national companies. To encourage the youth of the Langholm area to make use of the facilities, organise and take part in classes, workshops and attend events targeted at them as an audience.

Constitutional objectives
To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Langholm and its environs without distinction whether on the grounds of sex, sexuality, political, religious or other opinions by associating the local statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities, or assist in the provision of facilities, in the terms of social welfare for recreation. To promote, maintain, improve and advance the education of the public in the Arts, particularly by the practice, knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the Fine Arts, Music, Opera, Dramatic Art, Dance, Film and Crafts by the provision of appropriate facilities for their presentation and practice within The Buccleuch Centre, Langholm.
