02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The 46th Fife Scout Group exists to support and inspire young people in one of Scotland’s most socially and economically deprived communities. Our purpose is to help young people develop confidence, resilience and life skills, and to grow into responsible, active members of their community. We do this by delivering an inclusive, volunteer-led programme based on the values of Scouting. Through weekly meetings, outdoor adventure, camps, skills training and community projects, young people learn teamwork, leadership, problem-solving and self-belief in a safe and supportive environment. We actively remove barriers to participation by keeping costs low and providing financial support where needed, ensuring that poverty is never a reason a young person misses out. By giving young people positive role models, new experiences and opportunities beyond their everyday circumstances, the 46th Fife Scout Group helps them raise their aspirations, build friendships.
