02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Community Cars is a local charity which provides an accessible, volunteer led, door to door car service. We promote independence and social wellbeing in Dundee's over 65 community. Through our friendly group of dedicated volunteers, we provide journeys each month, Monday to Friday, that would otherwise not be carried out or be very expensive to the customer. These include, family visits, medical appointments, social activities and shopping. We also have the Out & About bus which is run in partnership with Dundee City Council, where we provide a door to door bus service to the over 65 community of Dundee who would otherwise not get out and about. These trips take them to cafes, antique centres or garden centres etc.
