Constitutional objectives

The Trustees shall from time to time and at any time in their uncontrolled discretion, but subject always to the discretionary powers conferred on them under Sub-clause 3.2 and Clause 6 hereof, pay or apply the capital or the income of the Trust Estate, in sums of such amount as the Trustees in their absolute discretion may decide, in any one or more or all of the following ways: (1) To assist past, present and future employees of T Sherriff & Co Limited (which company or such other organisation as may represent the same as a result of any amalgamation, takeover, renaming or reorganisation of the company as to which my Trustees shall be the sole judges hereinafter is referred to as 'the company') that through having a minimum of ten years' service with the company have shown great loyalty to the company and who are in necessitous circumstances. (2) To provide educational scholarships. (3) For the benefit of aged or poor or disabled or handicapped persons. declaring that whilst no specific restrictions are to be placed on the Trustees the Settlor would wish potential beneficiaries residing in the Dunbar area to receive particular consideration for benefit. (4) To or for the benefit of such one or more charitable institution or charitable institutions as the Trustees in their uncontrolled discretion may from time to time select. (5) In implementing or assisting to implement any charitable purpose or charitable purposes which the Trustees in their uncontrolled discretion may from time to time by minute resolve upon.
