02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

YYI aims at tackling inequalities around health, education, employment, youth development and poverty amongst the BAME community and/or those from low income backgrounds in Dundee. We achieve this from running a food larder, community fridge, support cafes, a community garden, daily youth provision and adult awareness activities and events.

Constitutional objectives

The SCIO’s purposes are principally to benefit the Muslim community of Dundee (the “Community”) with the following objectives: 4.1 The advancement of education by organising a structured youth development programme. 4.2 The advancement of health through a series of projects involving young people and by working in partnership with health agencies. 4.3 The advancement of citizenship or community development by organising community events and inter-generational activity. 4.4 The promotion of religious or racial harmony through integration and inter-faith work. 4.5 The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. 4.6 The advancement of public participation in sport with a particular focus on minority young people.
