Constitutional objectives
To preserve and encourage the use of the natural dialect of Buchan in verse, song, music, drama and story by:- (i) Encouraging the continuance of the established traditions of Buchan in verse, song, music, drama and story by:- (ii) Encouraging the enactment of music, verse, song, story, drama and old-time dancing. (iii) Encouraging young persons to participate therein. (iv) Encouraging participation in and the development of expression in the verse, song, music, drama and stories of Buchan. (v) Working in close cooperation with the Heritage Department of Aberdeenshire Council or their successors as local authority for the area and the School of Antiquities in Edinburgh to further the foregoing aims. (vi) Encouraging liaison with the Scots Language Society, Buchan Field Club, TMSA, School of Scottish Studies, universities and schools and any other relevant body with the foregoing aims and objectives. (b) To assist and cooperate with any other body or organisation, voluntary or otherwise having similar purposes and to do such other things as are, in the opinion of the members of the Association, necessary or desirable to further any or all of the foregoing purposes. Motives and objectives of a political nature or of self-interest of any particular faction must not be allowed to affect the Society's presentation ,interests or aims. The Association will use its best endeavours to produce an annual Buchan Heritage magazine, the contents of which will include features in verse, song, music, drama and prose of Buchan.
