02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Inverclyde Christian Initiative was set up as a registered charity to implement a number of public outreach activities desired by those within the original prayer group, Inverclyde Intercessors, and since its operation it conducted a number of public activities including outreaches of various types. In more recent times this has included the introduction of Healing Rooms in 2007, a 10-day outreach with members of Times Square church in New York in 2009, Street Pastors in 2010 and Rail Pastors in 2017. We undertook a further Civic Prayer event on 13th March 2025 in the Greenock Town Hall Saloon which once again was very well received and another will be held in May 2026 Our Street Pastor activities continue, and we hope this will increase as new trainees come forward. We have been able to continue the shorter day patrol at lunchtimes in Greenock town centre which have been well received. We also started weekly lunchtime patrols around Inverclyde Academy

Constitutional objectives
(a) The advancement of religion through worship, preaching and teaching of Christian doctrine and principles, fellowship and the distribution of Bible teaching in all forms, and the advancement of the Christian Faith generally. (b) The advancement of education on the basis of Christian principles. (c) The relief of persons who are in need, poverty, distress, aged or sick.
