02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
1. Maintaining local playing field. Following drainage improvements in the 2012, the Shiskine Valley Improvements SCIO continued to maintain the local playing field throughout 2024/25. Providing equipment for the local football teams. 2. A community beach clean is due to be conducted in the coming year. 3. Erecting two Christmas trees in the village, along with a lighting ceremony. 4. Helping the Arran Coastal Way/ Arran Footpaths maintain and develop paths in the Shiskine Valley Area. 5. Maintaining insurance cover for the Clachan Church and bronze memorial plaques within the church. The Clachan Church is a restored local ruin, which is both a visitor attraction, and is used for occasional open-air services. 6. Coordinating a flower tub project around the valley. 7. Providing outdoor furniture for the valley. 8. Supporting Blackwaterfoot Harbour Association in maintaining the harbour and moorings.
