02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We hold regular meetings, camps and events where young people are encouraged to get involved in activities they may otherwise not have the opportunity to do. Activities include (but are not limited to) camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing. Young people also get to hang out with their friends every week-having fun, playing games, working in a team and taking on new challenges. The challenges within Scouting are badge based, with young people learning skills while working towards earning badges. During this process they are supported by their peers, older young people (young leaders) and section leaders (adults). In addition young people within scouting learn about values and standards, specifically the Values of Scouting, as Scouts we are guided by these values. Integrity, Respect, Belief and Co-operation. This process boost young people's self confidence as well as giving them skills they need for life.
