02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our local community finds itself in the top 5% of the most deprived communities in Scotland (SIMD2020). At Linkes we aim to reduce the impact of poverty by providing opportunities for learning, supporting wellbeing, and using our facilities for the benefit of all. Our community spaces - the community base, youth base, forest garden and community shop - all serve our incredible community. We offer services to help local people build resilience and thrive. We run ESOL classes, Women's Group, Men's Group, Boogie babies classes, Youth Club with afterschool and school holiday food programs, Seniors Lunch Club and Drop In support services. Linkes is a community-led organization, created and governed by local people, operating successfully on the Lincoln Avenue high-rise estate since 2006. Linkes has supported the community for almost 20 years, constantly learning, developing and adapting to meet peoples changing needs and reducing the impact of poverty.
