02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity receives donations from UK based donors for international transfer to support the work of Bolivian registered charity, Fundación Totaí via which Foundation Totai achieves its charitable objectives of proclaiming the Christian faith through the provision and development of health and education services principally in the environ of Trinidad-Beni, Bolivia and the Amazon region and the relief of poverty of persons living in the same geographical area.

Constitutional objectives

(1) The advancement and proclamation of the full Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Christian Faith according to the Holy Bible principally in Bolivia and the Amazon region but also in other developing countries. (2) The relief of poverty of persons principally in Bolivia and the Amazon region but also in other developing countries or persons in conditions of need, hardship or distress and the advancement of human rights of such persons by the alleviation of people's needs, the fair treatment of workers, volunteers and service users (regardless of gender, nationality, creed or social status) supported by institutions or individuals who defend the concept of equality for all, human rights and international law. (3) The improvement and advancement of health by the provision of health services at affordable prices for individuals and communities with a special emphasis on provision of health care for people of scarce resources or who are in marginalised sectors of society or who have any type of physical, mental or emotional impairment and to seek to reduce the burden of disease, collaborating with established and approved programmes, working within existing local health service frameworks and World Health Organisation guidelines for the promotion of health, prevention and early detection of disease and illness and the professional management of health conditions. (4) The provision and advancement of education for all regardless of gender, nationality, creed or social status in implementation of Christian values and cross-cultural knowledge alongside national curricular programmes working in and supported by educational or training institutions which are already established or by the creation of new institutions under relevant national law and to promote multi-lingual development.
