02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Charity was set up to benefit the people of the Laggan area. We are currently restoring the historic Kilkivan Church and Graveslabs. This project benefits Machrihanish and Drumlemble communities by preserving the resting place of their ancestors. Once completed, it could be part of a tourist trail around Kintyre, boosting local tourism and aligning with our second charitable goal. We are collaborating with Historic Environment Scotland to preserve 14th and 15th-century grave slabs and protect them from weather damage. We aim to secure the church walls, tidy the grounds, and improve access. To obtain funding, we have partnered with the Killean & Kilchenzie Churches Preservation Association.
