02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
1. To relieve poverty, suffering and distress and to preserve and protect the health of persons living under difficult circumstances in developing countries. Support is provided by financial and/or practical assistance so that their conditions of life may be improved. 2. To raise awareness of the people of Dunfermline and West Fife and elsewhere to the problems of world poverty and the plight and suffering of those affected. We do this by having fund raising events e.g. One World breakfasts every 2 -3 months after the church service, holding craft fayres and hosting a Christmas Carol concert. We then work through other charities to support projects e.g. We sponsor a school in Liberia through Mary's meals and we have supported projects through Practical Action and PEAS. We have given emergency relief through DEC and SCIAF
