02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Trust supports essential repairs, ongoing maintenance of the Steps & Wall. Our long term ambition is to fully renovate the Steps, including restoration of the railings and the cast iron ‘dolphin’ lamps. The Trust operates on a voluntary basis, supported by specialist input from a historical architect and conservation engineer. We remain committed to growing our membership and maintaining clear, regular communication with members and the wider local community about our work and progress.

Constitutional objectives
The objects of the Charity are to preserve and explain for the benefit of the people of Glasgow and the Nation, the historical, architectural and constructional heritage that may exist in and around the 'Greek' Thomson 60 Steps Liested Building, decorative retaining wall and associated lighting fixtures, railings and garden located at Queen Margaret Road/Kelvinside Terrace in buildings (including any structure or erection, and any part of a building as so defined) of particular beauty or historical, architectural or constructional interest. The Charity will seek to take ownership, to guarantee full public access, and to provide educational and explanatory information.
