02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
EAF cultivates connections between artists, collaborators and communities to develop contemporary visual art projects in Edinburgh. In August, we present the UK’s largest annual visual art festival that is deeply rooted in the city and Scotland, with global dialogue. We amplify intersectional voices and perspectives. To achieve our Purpose, we have set 6 Aims for 2024 to 2028: ? To develop a multidisciplinary Festival that is innovative, intersectional and led by our Values, nurturing vision from artists and partners. ? To increase and provide a platform for equity in the projects we produce, the way we work, and the people we engage, with commitment and empathy. ? To convene and connect partners locally and globally. ? To produce work informed by research, advocacy, and our connected partnerships. ? Constitutional objectives
The Company's object is to are to foster and promote the arts in society for the benefit of the general public and particularly of inhabitants of Edinburgh and its surrounding area by developing public appreciation of the arts and by improving public access to the arts and the quality of the arts and in particular (but without prejudice to the foregoing generality):- to establish and promote an annual festival in Edinburgh to be known as the 'Edinburgh Art Festival'. to sponsor or arrange educational exhibitions, displays, films, publications, discussions or seminars on the visual arts during the Edinburgh Art Festival. to sponsor or arrange any other activities or events of an educational nature to assist in promoting, maintaining and strengthening of the visual arts in Scotland. to enter into arrangements or to act in conjunction with any other person or persons if thought expedient for the effectual attainment of the stated object. to advise in relation to, prepare, organise andlor conduct educational and training courses and programmes. to design, prepare andlor distribute information packs, leaflets, books, newsletters, magazines, posters and other publications, audio and video recordings, multi-media products and display materials and to establish and maintain websites and other electronic means for sharing information. to liaise with local authorities, central government and agencies, local enterprise companies, charitablelcommunity benefit bodies and others, all with a view to furthering the aims of the Company. to undertake such other activities as the law shall from time to time regard as charitable. to raise funds and invite contributions from any person or persons whomsoever in such manner as the Directors shall think fit including, but not limited to, subscription or donation, provided that the Company shall not undertake permanent trading activities in raising funds. 3.10 to borrow money, and to secure the repayment thereof
