02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our charity aims to promote conservation of rare and endangered wildlife species through encouragement of responsible management of wildlife habitats in Scotland and other countries. We initiate and pursue collaborative projects with landowners, farmers, foresters, teachers and other social groups.

Constitutional objectives
(a) To promote biodiversity and conservation of uncommon species in south-west Scotland and elsewhere through careful study, sympathetic management and other means. (b) To advance education by utilizing modern technologies and traditional methods to encourage young people to share scientific, historical, literary and cultural information about animals and the environment and their connection with human beings in south-west Scotland and elsewhere. (c) To promote and enhance public understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of Galloway's natural and cultural heritage. and to raise awareness of the region's links with noteworthy individuals, communities, creatures and environments elsewhere in Scotland and other countries.
