What the charity exists to do

CILIPS are the professional body for library and information workers in the UK. We advance and support the library profession by providing advocacy, training and support for our approx 1000 members across all library sectors.

Constitutional objectives

The advancement of education by:- 4.1.1 working with CILIP to set, maintain and promote standards of excellence in the creation, management, exploitation and sharing of information and knowledge resources in Scotland. 4.1.2 fostering and promoting education, training, and research in matters connected with information science and libraries and information services 4.2 The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture, science by:- 4.2.1 promoting and encouraging the maintenance of adequate and appropriate provision of library and information services of various kinds in Scotland. 4.2.2 scrutinising any legislation affecting the provision of library and information services and to promoting such further legislation as may be considered necessary to that end.
