02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The company’s objectives are to benefit young people resident in West Dunbartonshire by relieving poverty and unemployment, including providing support to access employment opportunities. advancing health & wellbeing, education and citizenship. To promote equality and diversity through working towards the elimination of discrimination (whether on the grounds of race, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation or otherwise) and to promote and support equality of opportunity, irrespective of race, religion, disability, gender or sexual orientation, and supporting community development through the promotion of public safety. The company may also promote or support other projects and programmes that further charitable purposes for the benefit of young people in West Dunbartonshire. In pursuing these objects, the company shall actively promote the participation of young people through consultation and other processes that enable them to identify and advocate for their own needs.

Constitutional objectives

3.The company's objects are (1) To relieve poverty among young people who are resident within West Dunbartonshire ('the Operating Area') (2) To relieve unemployment for the public benefit among young people resident in the Operating Area in such ways as may be thought fit, imluding assistance to find employment (3) To advance health among young people resident in the Operating Area (4) To promote equality and diversity through working towards the elimination of discrimination (whether on the grounds of race, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation or otherwise) in relation to young people resident in the Operating Area, and to promote and support equality of opportunity for all young people resident in the Operating Area irrespective of race, religion, disability, gender or sexual orientation (5) To advance citizenship among young people resident in the Operating Area (6) To advance community development through the promotion of public safety, in particular with regard to young people resident in the Operating Area (7) To advance education among young people resident in the Operating Area (8) To promote andlor support other similar projects and programmes which further a charitable purpose for the benefit of young people resident in the Operating Area. and on the basis that the company shall, in pursuing those objects, promote the participation of young people resident in the Operating Area through consultation and other processes which encourage them to advocate for their own needs.
