02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity supports unpaid adult carers. The aim of our work is to support carers to sustain their caring role in the most healthy and informed way. We do this by providing practical, emotional and financial support e.g. in the form of respite and short breaks, grants, social opportunities and peer support and advocacy.

Charitable purposes

  • the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended

Constitutional objectives

(I) to relieve the needs carers of individuals residentsIn West Dunbartonshire who are suffering from any form of mental and /or physical disability illness or impairment which may include age associated problems) and those for whom they provide the care (11) to advance the educahon, Increase the health and welfare and relieve the poverty and distress of carers within West Dunbartonshire area and elsewhere ('the Area of Benefit'), carers being defined for the purpose as being those persons who care in a voluntary capacity for any individual suffering from any form of mental and / or physical disability, illness or impairment (iii) to promote and/or provide tralnrng to carers and others In slulis associated wlth the care of and for meeting the needs of or providing support to people resrdent In the Area of Benefit and suffering from any form of mental and/or physical dtsability illness or impairment. (iv) to provide faalihes for recreation and other le~suretl me occupatron for the purpose of rmproving the conditions of life of carers of individuals resident in the Area of Benefit who suffer from any form of mental and/or physical disability or illness and those for whom they provide care. (v) to promote establish and operate and/or support other schemes and projects of a charitable nature provided always these schemes and projects have a similar charitable purpose and aims to those of the Company
