02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

IFF enables people, communities and organisations to flourish as effective agents in powerful times. We work with complex and often intractable challenges at local, national and global levels, taking a longer and wider view, embracing complexity and uncertainty, and recognising the human capacity for learning and transformation. Our work explores assumptions that limit what people and organisations see as possible, releasing potential to respond to contemporary challenges with practical hope and greater agency. We convene communities for mutual support and learning and deliver practical programmes across areas such as health and care, education and regenerative futures. Our work includes workshops, training, facilitation, publications and partnerships with public sector bodies and civil society organisations. Central to our approach is IFF’s body of theory, practice and methods, which help people understand change, navigate uncertainty and take meaningful action.
