02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Loanhead Brass Band holds weekly rehearsals in a safe and encouraging environment to allow players to improve their Brass Band playing skills. We teach all ages and abilities of players. We play at regular events throughout the year, mostly in Loanhead. We also compete in annual, national competitions.

Constitutional objectives

The Band shall provide an opportunity to play and develop proficiency on a brass instrument in a band context for anyone interested in starting up or playing at a junior level. The Band shall provide facilities to allow each playing member to improve his or her proficiency as a brass band musician. In hrtherance of these purposes the Band shall: - allow the members to take part in brass band contests, concerts, processions and other local events and other activities normally undertaken by brass bands. accept as members players of any age, but place emphasis on the providing young people with musical tuition in a safe, sociable and nurturing environment. whenever possible, undertake the tuition of persons interested in playing a brass instrument and shall seek to encourage an interest in brass band music amongst players, potential players and 1isteners.operate as a brass band under the auspices of and as members of The Scottish Brass Band Association and any successor to that organisation ('SBBA'). where possible, provide musical support for organisations and events in Loanhead and the surrounding area. be entirely non-political and non-sectarian.
