Constitutional objectives

The objects for which the Association is established are: I (a) To maintain, improve and advance education by promoting the art and practice and public performance of music throughout the United Kingdom and in other countries. As ancillary to the foregoing object which is hereby declared to be the principal object of the Association and for the purpose only of furthering such object, and in so far only as such things may be done by a body of persons formed for charitable purposes only, to do all or any of the following things, namely: (b) To provide a central and national organisation or federation of societies established for the promotion of the study, practice or performance of music throughout the United Kingdom or in any other Countries the constitutions of which societies prohibit the division of their profits or assets among their members (hereinafter called 'Music Societies') and to provide or arrange for the regional or district association or federation of Music Societies and generally to do all things which may be considered appropriate, necessary or calculated to secure co-operation and mutual assistance between music societies (or those established within any particular region or district). (c) To publish or promote or arrange for the publication of calendars of concerts promoted by music societies or by music societies established within any particular region or district, and to obtain publicity for the same, and to publish lists of members of the Association, and to circulate such information as may be thought desirable by means of a periodical journal of the Association or by the occasional publication of transactions or other papers or by both these methods or by any other methods. (d) To arrange for the exchange between music societies of catalogues of music or of music libraries in their possession, and to disseminate amongst music societies information in regard to all matters affecting such music societies in such manner an
