02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The aim of the charity is to create resources and opportunities to facilitate inclusive adventure in the UK and further afield. Including the promotion of health and well being programs in the outdoors with disabled people. Our Objectives are to increase participation in expeditions and outdoor activities, deliver targeted change programs with individuals, communities and families and support inclusive outdoor education and community settings. We also work to enable and inspire emerging professionals to be more inclusive, inspire inclusive innovation and education and support inclusion in expeditions and field science to further Geographical and environmental education. Put simply, we aim to make a real difference to the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families.

Charitable purposes

  • the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended
  • the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage

Constitutional objectives

The Company's main object is to carry on activities which benefit the community and in particular (without limitation) to design, develop and install adventure and sports equipment to enable the inclusion of the disabled and disadvantaged in a range of adventure activities on land, air and water. and in furtherance of that object - to train managers and practitioners in service provision and to create an inclusive environment, equipment and good practice. to link with industry, disabled people, service providers and technical experts and to provide holistic training. to design, develop and advise on field hygiene and to support the dignity of users in a manner consistent with Health and Safety legislation and guidelines and environmental considerations. to provide an assessment of training needs. to provide consultancy on physical and sensory access of facilities, services and marketing material distributed from providers. to promote a forum on inclusive adventure and develop action plans. to educate and give technical support. to publish, print and advertise information and advice and to seek charitable support and donations. and other such activities as seen fit from time to time. For the avoidance of doubt the 'community' is defined as disabled and disadvantaged members of society for the purposes of this Memorandum.
