02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

To live our Christian faith by going out into the streets of Perth to listen, to care and to help all whom they meet. Perth Street Pastors are recognised as being a key element in Perth & Kinross’s Community Safety network. Each Street Pastor is fully trained and provided with the distinctive uniform, and the teams are in communication with the police and key city centre staff. Street Pastors also provide a friendly, supportive and caring presence at events during the year, working with the police and other agencies in providing a calming neutral presence and working to keep people safe. Since 2017, specially trained School Pastors have been patrolling roads near Perth Grammar School on Friday lunchtimes, and in 2022 we were pleased to start patrolling at Bertha Park High School. 1 Perth Street Pastor has also had additional training as a Response Pastor to be available for major and significant incidents in Scotland.
