02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity is set up to enhance and develop the facilities at Polson Park. We work to encourage local residents to use the park, and also work with East Lothian Council to plan for the future.

Constitutional objectives

a) To uphold the spirit of the Polson Family's bequest regarding the park that the land be held 'in perpetuity as a Public Park and recreation ground for the enjoyment and recreation of the inhabitants and community of the said Burgh of Tranent and neighbourhoods', b) To support the provision of recreational facilities and activities in Polson Public Park for the benefit of the public at large including, but not limited to,: - games and sports facilities children's play facilities decorative gardens social and celebratory events for the community training and development opportunities c) To work with statutory and voluntary sector organisations on the ongoing development and maintenance of existing and new facilities in ways that will best meet the social and recreational needs of the wider community. d) To provide opportunities and structures for local people to become involved in the management , usage and future of the park as a community resource
