02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Arkordia provides long and short-term psychotherapy, counselling and Arts Therapies for individual adults in Edinburgh and the Lothians. We aim to increase health and mental wellbeing and decrease symptoms such as stress, loneliness and depression. Arkordia volunteer practitioners are experienced professionals who are members of relevant professional bodies. Providing a low cost one to one and couple counselling and psychotherapy for people requesting this service. Practitioners are fully qualified and give their time on a voluntary basis. We run peer group supervision to provide professional support to our practitioners.

Constitutional objectives
Arkordia will operate solely as a non-profit making charity with the following charitable purposes: 4 The advancement of health and mental wellbeing, the promotion of equality and diversity and any other similar charitable purpose through the following activities in furtherance of the aforementioned purposes- 4.1 to provide long and short term individual and group psychotherapy, counselling and creative therapies for individual adults and couples. 4.2 to ensure that services will be available irrespective of income and will be accessible to those on a low income. 4.3 to provide access to services irrespective of class, race, ethnicity, age, gender, religious affinity, disability or sexual orientation. 4.4 to assist and support individuals to develop appropriate control over, and satisfaction with, their lives. 4.5 to provide training and development opportunities for those working in this field.
