What the charity exists to do

To advance the interest of education and welfare of the community in Lewis and Harris by promoting the knowledge and interest in a number of sports and activities, particularly equestrian sport and care of horses, through the construction and operation of the Lochside Arena for use by community groups, clubs, organisations, members and individuals.

3. The Company's charitable purposes (the expression 'charitable purpose' shall mean a charitable purpose under section 7 of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 which is also regarded as a charitable purpose in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts) are (and shall not be altered without the prior consent of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator): 3.1.1 The advancement of education. 3.1.2 The advancement of citizenship and community development. 3.1.3 The advancement of public participation in sport. 3.1.4 The provision of recreational facilities and the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. 3.1.5 The promotion of equality and diversity. 3.1.6 The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.
