02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity exists to serve the interests of Malawians living in Scotland, and to engage with other Scottish organisations with interest in Malawi. The charity organises meetings and social events for Malawians in Scotland, and supports Scottish organisations doing work in Malawi as and when required. The charity will continue to do this into the future.

Constitutional objectives

The object of the association shall be to organise and facilitate activities and programs in Malawi and for Malawians and other interested parties in Scotland. This shall be achieved by: I. Providing a means by which Malawians in Scotland can integrate into and engage with Scottish society through cross-cultural events. 2. Operating charitable projects in Malawi in the fields of education, health , gender and youth empowerment. 3. Providing language training in Chichewa and Chitumbuka to Malawian youths in Scotland and to other interested parties. 4. Helping bereaved Malawian families in Scotland with social support, funeral arrangements and fundraising activities to meet funeral costs in Scotland and in Malawi. 5. Providing advisory services to the Scottish government, charities, groups and individuals with interest on Malawi.
