What the charity exists to do

To improve the lives of people in Greater Glasgow by tackling areas of significant charitable need, with a focus on social and civic wellbeing and education, and to sustain Trades House and the 14 Incorporated Crafts so that they can continue to play an important part in the community of Glasgow.

Constitutional objectives

The Trustees shall hold and apply the Funds for the following purposes:- For payment or application of the income of the Funds or such part of it as the Trustees shall from time to time in their sole discretion decide and for payment or application of the capital of the Funds or such part of it as the Trustees shall from time to time in their sole discretion decide for the following charitable purposes of the Trades House:- 1.1.1 the advancement of citizenship or community development. 1.1.2 the prevention or relief of poverty. 1.1.3 the advancement of education. 1.1.4 the advancement of health. 1.1.5 the saving of lives. 1.1.6 the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science. 1.1.7 the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage, 1.1.8 the advancement of public participation in sport. 1.1.9 the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. 1.1.10 the advancement of environmental protection or improvement. and 1 .l. 11 such other similar purposes as are charitable not falling under Clauses 5.1.1 to 5.1.10 inclusive that may reasonably be regarded as similar to any of the purposes set out in those Clauses.
