02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Our charity is set up to support children and their families after abuse or trauma, this involves many activities such as helpline, one to one befriending, therapy, groupwork, awareness events. in addition to these supports to recovery for not only the child but the parents and siblings SAVI also provides advocacy, preparation for and attendance for and with victims in the legal services including accompaniment to interviews court dates etc. we also offer practical support at time of presentation particularly if victim has fled in hurry for example. This includes clothing, food, household items etc. we undertake groupwork for both recovery and awareness for both children and adults, adults both age groups have support circles for victims and their family/support. Our facility is also often used by other agencies such as police or social work to meet with our service users.

Constitutional objectives

To support children/young people who have been sexually assaulted. SAVI's overall aim is to keep victims and their families strong and informed whilst awaiting and throughoutt the trial process before helping them link up with aftercare support services.
