What the charity exists to do
The Patients' Advocacy Service aims to provide an independent, highly skilled, responsible and professionally run service within The State Hospital. Whilst observing the safety and security of the Hospital, the service works independently within it to promote patients as individuals, to support them and to enable them to be fully informed and involved in their care and treatment..

Constitutional objectives
To relieve the needs of people with mental health problems. and in particular: 1. To provide advocacy services to patients of The State Hospital, Carstairs and such other people with mental health problems as the directors may deem appropriate. 2. To promote the interests of people with mental health problems, and particularly those who are accessing advocacy support. and 3. To develop, and (where considered appropriate by the directors) implement, new ways of providing support to people with mental health problems.
