02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
the purposes are to manage its land and assets for the benefit of the community as defined by the given postcode units following principles of sustainable development. The major project the charity undertook was to bring the community centre up to modern standards and the trustees now manage the building for the benefit of the community. The building is let to various local groups as a place to meet and the building is generally a focal point for the people of Embo and the surrounding area.

Constitutional objectives
4.0 The Company has been formed to benefit the community of Embo and District as defined by the postcode units IV25 3HZ, IV25 3PP, IV25 3PR, IV25 3PS, IV25 3PT, IV25 3PU, IV25 3PX, IV25 3PY, IV25 3PZ, IV25 3QA, IV25 3QB, IV25 3QD, IV25 3QE, IV25 3QF, IV25 3QH, IV25 3QL, IV25 3QQ, IV25 3QS ('the Community') with the following Purposes ('the Purposes'): 4.1 To manage community land and associated assets for the benefit of the Community and the public in general. 4.2 To provide, or assist in providing, recreational facilities, and/ or organising recreational activities, which will be available to members of the Community and public at large with the object of improving the conditions of life of the Community. 4.3 To advance community development, including urban or rural regeneration. 4.4 To advance the education of the Community about its environment, culture, heritage and/or history. 4.5 To advance environmental protection or improvement including preservation, and conservation of the natural environment, the promotion of sustainable development, the maintenance, improvement or provision of environmental amenities for the community. 4.6 All of the above purposes as given in Articles 4.1 - 4.5 shall be carried out following principles of sustainable development, where sustainable development means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
