02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our charity exists to support self-employment for people who face significant disadvantage in accessing mainstream self-employment support due to the impact of being autistic. We achieve this objective by providing direct support and advice through a flexible business mentoring service to autistic adults resident in Scotland who wish to explore the potential of self-employment. In many cases these clients have failed to find or sustain work within a traditional workplace setting. Clients receive free individually tailored advice sessions via video conferencing. They are encouraged to develop ideas from the abstract through to business launch and beyond at a rate that is comfortable for them. Consistency is valued by our clients and so they are given continued support from people whom they grow to trust and to whom they can readily relate. Our approach supports clients to develop sustainable micro-enterprises which reflect their strengths, interests and capacities.
