02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
On Call Africa (OCA) exists to improve access to quality healthcare for underserved rural communities in Zambia, strengthening health systems and improving health outcomes. We work in partnership with the Ministry of Health, local communities and other stakeholders to support sustainable, locally led healthcare delivery. Through our Community Health Improvement Programme (CHIPs), we strengthen the capacity of community health workers, improve the quality of healthcare services, invest in essential health infrastructure and promote innovative approaches, including digital health solutions. Our work focuses on strengthening community participation, improving maternal and child health, expanding access to essential healthcare and building resilient health systems that can be sustained by government and communities over time.
