02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Troon Allotment Society leases land from the South Ayrshire Council and membership is open to all over 18 living within South Ayrshire. We are run by a volunteer committee. We have 7 community groups using the site as well as our regular plot holders. Some of these groups are registered charities, others supporting vulnerable groups e.g. dementia and others are educational. We have extended our educational programme this year to include the local Cubs, so that our range using the allotments goes from 8 to over 80. We have joined the Ayrshire Nectar Network this year to extend our environmental knowledge. We are still using our own water supply but looking to solar power to replace our petrol generator.
