02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our activities include: • Providing an opportunity for music making via brass and percussion instruments for interested people in the South Lanarkshire district and beyond • Providing live music at community functions • Participating in brass band contests through membership of the Scottish Brass Band Association In 2024, our organisation performed at 10 concerts, 6 competitions, 9 community events, 5 Christmas events and 5 fundraising activities.

Constitutional objectives
“The objectives of the bands (that is, Coalburn Silver Band, Coalburn Intermediate Band and Coalburn Bronze Band) and the Coalburn Percussion Academy shall be to advance the education of the band members and the public of South Lanarkshire and the surrounding areas in the art of music and in particular brass band music by the presentation of public performances and other related activities.”
