02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Trust provides facilities a) to improve the health, welfare, and quality of life of those living in Glasgow and the surrounding area, b) to encourage, promote and develop public participation in sport, particularly in cricket and hockey, c) to foster citizenship and sustain and enhance the local community by participation in sport.

Constitutional objectives

(a) to improve the health, welfare and quality of life of those living in Glasgow and the surrounding area. (b) to encourage, promote and develop public participation in sport, particularly in cricket and hockey (c) to foster citizenship and sustain and enhance the local community by participation in sport. (d) to achieve the foregoing purposes by maintaining, improving and where deemed appropriate replacing the Sports Ground, including the pitches, clubhouses and pavilions thereon, so as to provide quality facilities for sport, particularly cricket and hockey and if considered appropriate other forms of physical recreation. (e) In the event that the foregoing Purposes shall in our reasonable opinion become incapable of fulfilment at any time to hold the Sports Ground and other property, if any, then comprising the Trust Estate and the proceeds of sale thereof firstly, for the provision of alternative facilities suitable for use by those members of the public who require Sports Ground facilities and secondly for the promotion, encouragement, development and participation of the general public in Glasgow and the surrounding area in the sports of hockey and cricket or such other sports as we may reasonably determine.
