02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our charity aims to conserve the history and heritage of Kirkcaldy as it is contained in the oldest building in town in continuous use, Kirkcaldy Old Kirk, and its related buildings, for the benefit of the community. To do this the Trustees maintain The Old Kirk as a community venue, a heritage centre and a continuing non-denominational church, with a now well-established programme of musical, geographical and historical events, concerts and lectures taking place within its walls. . In addition we open the Kirk to the public every weekend between May and the end of October as well as by arrangement and conduct guided tours up our 15th century tower and around the building. We have special school and youth organisation visits too.

Constitutional objectives
The objects of the charity are to advance heritage through preserving for public benefit the historical, architectural and constructional heritage that may exist in and around Kirkcaldy in buildings (including any part of a building, and any other structure or erection) of particular beauty or of historical architectural or constructional interest ('the objects').
