02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

East Dunbartonshire Access Panel (EDAP) strives to break down the barriers for disabled people confronting us in our daily life. As part of our work, we carry out Disability Access Audits, to help mobility impaired people get access to buildings, housing, education, transport, leisure and the built environment. EDAP actively try to be involved as a stakeholder in discussions with East Dunbartonshire Council, as well as involved as a consultee regarding any proposals by the Council or other public bodies that may have implications for mobility impaired persons. We have recently been involved in a number of consultations/ workshops/ online discussions. We are often contacted by members of the public who have been experiencing access or mobility issues in the area. we essentially advocate for them, contacting the relavant authorities on their behalf in an attempt to remedy their particular issues.
