02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The company exists to provide a platform for young and emerging singers and anyone from the community who wishes to experience singing and performing Opera and Music Theatre. This allows participants to develop their singing, learn to work with others in dramatic roles and gain experience in performing to live audiences. Aria Alba also aims to promote the development of those musicians, technicians and costume and set designers associated with the Charity. A concurrent aim is to develop self-confidence and boost self-esteem in young people and more mature adults. In addition, and when practicable, the company engages in outreach activities, taking opera to community events to make opera accessible to all. Continual efforts are made to increase the number of members in the Company. Young singers will often leave the Company after they have completed their schooling. Many of them go on to study music at University / Conservatoires and occasionally return to join us in performance
