02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

We run West Bay User Group which involves maintaining the harbour and boat club area of our village. We also run workshops out of our Container Spaces there. We hold funds for our Local Action Plan spend and also champion issues and campaigns raised by villages eg. Community Buy Out of our local pub.

Constitutional objectives

“The Charitable Purposes of the Trust (the 'Charitable Purposes') are: The Trust has been formed for the benefit and development of the communities within the electoral boundaries of North Queensferry Community Council (the 'Community') (the boundaries of which, at the time of the adoption of these Articles, are indicated outlined in red on the map at Schedule 2 hereof which is attached for information only), and of the public generally, with the Charitable Purposes listed in Articles 3.1 .1 to 3.1.8 below, to be exercised in accordance with the principles of sustainable development (where sustainable development means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs) and to further the achievement of sustainable development. The Trust's main purpose is consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development. The Charitable Purposes of the Trust are to: 3.1.1 provide or advance the accessibility of recreational facilities, and/or organise recreational activities which will be available to members of the Community and the public generally. 3.1.2 promote, manage and develop activities and projects for the benefit and development of the Community, and of the public generally. 3.3.3 advance of citizenship or community development, including rural or urban regeneration, within the Community. 3.1.4 advance educational opportunities in the Community. 3.1.5 advance environmental protection or improvement including preservation, sustainable development and conservation of the natural environment, the maintenance, improvement or provision of environmental amenities for the Community and/or the preservation of buildings or sites of architectural, historic or other importance to the Community. 3.1.6 advance public participation in sport by members of the Community and the public generally. 3.1.7 advance the arts, heritage or culture for the benefit of members of the Community and the public generally. and 3.1.8 advance the health and wellbeing of members of the Community and the public generally”
