Constitutional objectives
1. To provide within schools in the United Kingdom small classes ('nurture groups') for children attending the school who, for a variety of reasons, find difficulty in sustaining mainstream class settings. 2. To help (through the operation of nurture groups) children to behave appropriately. use their curiosity constructively. improve their self-esteem. and develop confidence through close and trusting relationships with adults. 3. To work in partnership with parents and class teachers to enable consistency of approach for children who attend nurture groups both at home and at school. 4. To devise appropriate programmes and methods of working in nurture groups and to provide both initial and on-going training for the teachers and other practitioners running nurture groups. 5. To work with Government, Local Authorities, and individual schools to expand and establish nurture groups in the United Kingdom so as to meet the perceived and agreed extent of need of children in particular localities. 6. To publish and distribute books, guides, literature, and other materials to assist and inform teachers and practitioners in the formation, methodology and organisation of nurture groups and to devise and provide both external and work-based courses in relation to such formation, methodology and organisation. 7. To carry out research and publish the results of such research all relating to the provision, development, and performance evaluation of nurture groups.
