02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Following the completion of the Hermitage Park restoration project which merited significant investment from the Heritage Lottery Fund, The Friends of Hermitage Park (FOHPA) aims to ensure that standards are maintained and the Park is both further developed and actively used by people within and without Helensburgh. The Charity achieves this by liaising with the day to day park supervisor and by regular Steering Group meetings with Argyll & Bute senior management, ensuring among other issues that standards continue to meet the Green Flag Award criteria. FOHPA organises up to four Park User Group meetings through out the year in addition to community events in both the Park and Community Room. In partnership with the Park Supervisor the Friends work with the local community to introduce new community groups into the Demonstration Garden plots as well as encouraging individuals to participate in the weekly volunteering sessions held twice a week by the Park Supervisor.
