02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Newmains Community Trust is a community-led charity established to improve the wellbeing, opportunities and quality of life of people living in Newmains and the surrounding area. We do this by operating Newmains Community Centre as a welcoming hub that provides accessible services, activities and facilities for local people of all ages. Our work includes community development, health and wellbeing programmes, volunteering opportunities, social activities, educational and employability support, affordable events, and partnerships with local organisations. We aim to reduce social isolation, strengthen community connections, encourage participation, and support individuals and families to reach their potential. We reinvest all income generated through our social enterprise activities and fundraising into delivering charitable services and maintaining community assets for public benefit.

Constitutional objectives
4. The company's objects are: (I) To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Newmains and district without distinction of sex, sexuality, political, religious or other opinions by encouraging a common effort to reduce poverty, advance education and to provide facilities, (or assist in the provision of facilities), in the interest of social welfare and other leisure-time occupation so that their conditions of life may be improved. (II) To improve the health and well-being of all the inhabitants of the community and (III) To promote the preservation and conservation of the environment in Newmains and district for the public benefit.
